Self-made businessman Gerry Stratton has organised a small family
dinner at his favourite local restaurant to celebrate his wife
Laura’s fifty-fourth birthday. His son Glyn is there with his
long-suffering wife Stephanie, and younger son Adam has brought along
his new girlfriend Maureen, an outrageously behaved hairdresser. The
occasion suggests a happy domestic scene but gradually we become aware
of the family skeletons. From the present, Glyn’s story moves
forward in time and Adam’s backward, while at the centre Gerry
and Laura pick apart their marriage and recall first love.
