It’s the swinging ’60s and sexy, cocksure, charismatic
young Mr Sloane is looking for a place to live. Middle-aged Kath
offers herself as his landlady but is also offering something else.
Her brother Ed wants a piece of the action too – but their
elderly and inquisitive father is unfortunately in the way...
Wickedly funny, and sometimes violent, this sleek, dark and sexy
comedy caused a stir when it opened in London during the age of the
sexual revolution. It established Orton as one of the most significant
writers of stage farce in the twentieth century and launched him on an
explosively successful career cut short by his untimely and violent
death in 1967.
