Rita is a hairdresser hungry to find some meaning to life. Frank is a
middle-aged tutor of English whose disillusioned outlook has driven
him to the bottle. With Frank as her tutor, Rita embarks on an Open
University course and her education process begins. What follows is
both funny and dramatic as Rita’s fresh, intuitive approach
becomes clouded and stifled, while Frank also learns something –
to believe in himself again.
Educating Rita ran in the West End for two and a half
years, since when it has never been out of production somewhere in the
world. It won multiple awards and was later made into an
Oscar-nominated and Bafta-winning film.
