Who knocked Mad Padraic’s cat over on a lonely road on the
island of Inishmore? Was it an accident? Or something more sinister?
He’ll certainly want to know when he gets back from a stint of
torture and chip-shop bombing in Northern Ireland because he loves his
cat more than he loves life.
McDonagh’s dark comedy pushes theatre to its limits with its
mixture of savage violence, explicit brutal action, laughter, gunfire
and gore. At its heart this is a brilliant satire on terrorism and
appropriately takes us to the edges of good taste.
