Most of the characters in Grimms’ fairy tales are seriously
flawed. This enchanting musical addresses that by showing us what
happened when Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood and the baker
and his wife set off for the forest to find ‘happy ever
after’. On the way they encounter Rapunzel, a wicked witch, a
lascivious wolf, vengeful giants, charming princes... and their own
destinies.
With wit and wisdom the writers have created an enchanting parable
about lost innocence, the realities of adulthood and the real cost of
getting what we want: all set to Sondheim’s heart-rending music.
