This hilarious and touching play is based on the true story of one
Florence Foster Jenkins, a very eccentric wealthy American socialite
in the first half of the twentieth century. Florence believed that she
had a great talent for singing operatic arias. In reality, she had
none whatsoever: no pitch, no tone, no rhythm. We follow Florence as
she rehearses, makes recordings, becomes famous for being awful and
finally performs to a sold out Carnegie Hall. Along the way we meet
her new accompanist (the eccentrically named Cosme McMoon), her
boyfriend, dodgy English actor St Clair, her friend Dorothy and her
incandescent Mexican maid, Maria.
