A rumbustious bittersweet comedy about music, the right to work and
the damage done to a community when an industry disappears,
Brassed Off blends the personal and politic with great
humour, tremendous heart and a rich comic seam.
Set in 1994 in the fictional mining town of Grimley, it tells of the
imminent closure of the town’s main employer, the coal mine, of
its brass band, and the highs and lows of the band’s members and
families. It’s an uplifting story filled with affecting music
played live by a brass band specially formed for this production.
WARNING: You will encounter some robust language and bare bottoms in
this production.
