The theatre’s production press officers are part of the marketing
department which is responsible for ensuring public awareness of the
theatre, the high standards to which it aspires, and the body of work
it produces.
How it works
Each press officer is allocated a number of productions during the
season. They are responsible for the despatch of press releases and
photos to local newspapers and radio stations for publication in the
week prior to the opening of each show. They also collate copies of
the previews for the archive, and set up radio/newspaper interviews as
requested, usually with the director or a member of the cast.
They also liaise with the stage manager, director and photographer to
arrange press and front of house photos.
On opening nights they host reviewers from the local media.
Commitment and reward
You would initially shadow an existing press officer on at least one
show before being given your own productions to work on. Whether you
are a student looking to gain experience as part of your studies, or
someone who would enjoy being part of the team promoting a vibrant,
exciting venue in the cultural life of the area, we would be delighted
to have you with us.
