We offer hot fresh coffee for the audience during the interval. We are
very proud of the quality of our coffee – the Warwick Blend
– which has been specially created for the Loft by the Cotswold
Coffee Company. After the initial coffee service, and if we have
enough coffee left over, we offer a free second cup for anyone who
wants it.
How it works
The coffee service is provided by a wonderful team of volunteers but
we are always seeking new recruits. You arrive at 7.15pm and are
generally done and dusted by 9.30pm. That said, it’s hard work while
you are there: the two members on the coffee team each night have to
make the coffee and set out cups, then deal with the rush at the
interval when the audience crowds out into the coffee lounge. After
that there are second helpings, followed by collecting the dirty cups
and the washing-up.
Commitment and reward
As detailed above, the commitment in time is not huge. You only have
to do coffee once per production – and there are only nine
productions a year – only nine evenings to give up in a whole
year! We try to show our gratitude every year by having a little
get-together with top-class nibbles – and a drink on the house.
Joining the coffee team is a great way to get to know the other
members and become known around the theatre which can help you if you
are interested in working in the other departments too.
